Students with Imam Hassan

As part of Global Studies class the eighth grade recently took a trip to visit the Islamic Society of Vermont at the mosque in Colchester. Students observed Friday prayers, and then had an opportunity to speak at length with Imam Islam Hassan about Islam in Vermont and around the world. Students were warmly welcomed by members of the mosque, most of whom were refugees from places around the world, including Yemen, Bosnia, and Somalia. It was a great trip and a wonderful opportunity for students to broaden their understanding of the diversity within the state of Vermont.

Upcoming trips include the Beth El Synagogue, a local Christian Church, and KarmĂȘ Chöling, a Buddhist meditation and retreat center.
